Tips for Eating Healthy on a budget

Eating healthy on a budget can be mind bottling  because of the various healthy food and snack items options now available, but contrary to what the experts might be telling you, it’s not rocket science. Implementing practical steps and a little (okay a lot of will power) go a long way to save you cash and your taste buds. Keep these five tips in mind the next time you  head over to the grocery store.

  1. Read labels- just because something says that it is organic doesn’t necessarily mean that it is good for you(or your little one). Items like cheese curls, hot dogs and soda are some examples.
  2. Do your shopping with a friend that eats healthy
  3. Don’t shop at peak hours
  4. Keep it simple- Try one or two new healthy items a week as opposed to changing your diet all at once
  5. Keep in mind that calories still count
